City council committee approves money for program to avoid eviction, and for arts projects
Tenants who face eviction in La Crosse may get more help from City Hall, to avoid becoming homeless.
The city council finance committee has approved $60,000 in funding for an Eviction Defense Project, aimed at providing legal help for families who could lose housing.
The money largely comes from leftover federal ARPA funds sent to the city. The program is administered through the Legal Action of Wisconsin organization.
On Thursday, the committee also approved six grants from a $75,000 fund, using ARPA money. A resolution being sent to the full city council authorizes the city arts board to distribute the money for projects including a mural planned for Logan Middle School.
The funding requests will be considered by the city council at its March 14th meeting.

Can I get some of the money to make my house payment. The city needs to wake up put the on a bus. When is the city going to stop being a sanctuary city. That won’t happen till La Crosse get rid of the dumb ass liberals that run the city.

Sorrrrry but NO, the County and City received a total of $50 million with another $10 million to the La Crosse School District…not a penny was used to provide general taxpayer relief.

Its just “leftover” cash…with diminutive language like that used you know it is going to their preferred grift and they have no intention of publicizing it.
Why is the City giving money to the unelected art board to then give money to the bottomless pit known as the La Crosse School District (which has its own huge burden on the taxpayers and received its own $10 million covid funding). And who is the School District paying? Good grief, this sounds like a version of money laundering.
