Viterbo names Mihalovic to its first endowed chair, following $1.25 million anonymous donation
An anonymous gift of $1.25 million was presented to Viterbo University, which will use the money to establish an “endowed chair” for the first time.
The endowment can be used to help pay for specific activities for a staff member or to add to that person’s salary.
Scott Mihalovic was chosen as the first person to be named William Medland Chair of Educational Leadership, in honor of the former president of Viterbo.
Viterbo vice-president Bob Van Wicklin called Mihalovic, a former principal of Logan High School, one of the best and brightest staff members on campus.
“He’s had a long history here in the community,” Van Wicklin said. “He’s done some excellent work at Viterbo in his position.
“I don’t think it was a hard decision for the provost and the president to see that Scott was able to get this honor.”
Mihalovic has been coordinator for the educational leadership program at Viterbo for the past decade.
In that post, he oversees programs which train educators who want to move into administration to become principals or superintendents.
