UW-L parking ramp proposal high Thursday’s agenda for La Crosse city council
Will the UWL campus get a new parking ramp for 500 cars? That question could be settled Thursday by the La Crosse city council, which meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
A rezoning plan to pave the way for a multi-level ramp was voted down by the council finance committee last week, amid public concerns about auto use and climate change.
The proposed ramp would replace an existing surface parking lot with 110 spaces on Vine Street, located near the university’s Center for the Arts.
The facility would hold 550 cars, and is aimed at freeing up more curb space on streets on and near the campus. A piece of land next to the current parking lot would have to be rezoned for the ramp to be built.

So for decades the citizens who live around the university have complained about the parking mess.
Too may cars on the streets and home owners not able to park their cars in front of their own homes. Then if the city had a major snow storm and the vehicles were parked on the wrong side of the street the snow removal was another mess. Now the university has a plan to help alleviate the issue with land they already have and some concerned tree huggers says it will be bad for the environment? WTF?
Perhaps the university should look into a bicycle ramp for all those people who use that wonderful bike lane on Second Street. Oh wait, none of those bike riders attend the university. Give the homeowners who live around the university and the students who attend that university a break and do something that seems to be a common sense solution to a parking problem that has haunted the city for decades.

you said it all. these cars will still come, it will only get worse but the tree huggers don’t care until it effects them personally.
