A hiring decision on a new airport director in La Crosse could happen in the next few days.

The city aviation board met Monday and learned that an announcement is possible soon.

Former airport director Ian Turner left La Crosse in January to become the head of the airport in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and interviews have been conducted with possible successors.

Meanwhile, the local airport is about to increase its daily schedule by one commercial flight.

An 11 a.m. daily flight from La Crosse to Chicago is being added by American Airlines on April 4.

Airport staffers told the aviation board that the flight out of La Crosse will give passengers a better chance of making connecting flights through Chicago.

American also has plans to use larger jets for its La Crosse flights, beginning in May.
