La Crosse man faces strangulation charge after an argument

A 19-year-old La Crosse man had been charged with strangulation and other offenses, resulting from an incident on Denton Street. 

Cornell Banks is accused of getting into an argument with a woman whose apartment he was visiting.

The criminal complaint states Banks pushed the woman to the floor, punched her in the face, and placed his hands around her neck.

Others in the room reportedly pulled Banks away from the woman. 

Banks was given a signature bond, and is ordered to stay away from the victim. He’s due back in court after Memorial Day.
