Milwaukee man charged in La Crosse with injuring young boy by knocking down a large TV

A child abuse charge has been filed in La Crosse against a 21-year-old Milwaukee man accused of toppling a flat screen TV, causing injury to a 2-year-old boy.

Ervin Toombs faces charges of physical abuse of a child, property damage, and obstructing an officer.

Police say Toombs was visiting a woman at her 3rd Street apartment on Sunday, became angry, and allegedly pushed a 50-inch TV off its stand.

The TV reportedly struck the child in the back while he was playing on the floor.

Police were called and they arrested Toombs after a brief foot chase in downtown La Crosse.

He’s in jail on a cash bond.
