Two drivers had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital, after a minivan rear-ended a full-size truck just outside of Coon Valley.

The incident happened around noon Wednesday at the intersection of Highway 14 and Brinkman Ridge Road, in Hamburg, Wis.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department, that’s where the 41-year-old driver of a 2017 Dodge Caravan rear-ended a 2011 Ford F-150 that was waiting to turn left onto Brinkman Road.

The Coon Valley Fire Department had to extricate the minivan driver from her vehicle. Both she and the 64-year-old man driving the Ford were taken to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

A child also sustained minor injuries.

Highway 14 was shut down in both directions for about 45 minutes, and then one lane was closed for another 45.
