La Crosse Red Lobster closed, equipment already being auctioned off
If you took your mom to Red Lobster on Mother’s Day in La Crosse, that may have been the last trip there for seafood.
A sign on the door indicates the restaurant at 3333 Highway 16 is closed.
A liquidating company had equipment from the La Crosse restaurant on its site up for auction at 2 p.m. Monday. The auction lasts until 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to the auction “all contents” in the restaurant are available:
“Equipment Highlights Key items available in this location include high-performance ovens, upright refrigerators and freezers, cooking and warming solutions, and comprehensive bar and dining setups. Featured brands may include Victory, Middleby, Blodgett, Pitco, Traulsen, Hoshizaki, and more!“
It is two of eight in Wisconsin — the other being in Wauwatosa — and of many across the US that appear to have abruptly shut down.
There are 650 Red Lobsters across the US, as the company reportedly ponders bankruptcy.
None of the 12 in Minnesota are listed as closed — there’s one in Rochester — while two of the eight in Iowa are now shut down — Council Bluffs and Waterloo.
Around 90 Red Lobsters have listed store hours as closed on each restaurant’s website — the most happening in Florida, where the company is based. There 16 of the 47 Red Lobsters appear to have closed.
