Dems quick to label Senate race opponent

Published

on

Giving someone a label doesn’t do much unless it sticks. The Democratic Party is hoping the label it has given to one  Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin will stick with voters. As soon as Eric Hovde entered the race as a Republican challenging incumbent Democrat Senator Tammy Baldwin, party bosses quickly labeled him as an outsider. He is a rich banker from California, they told us, with scant ties to Wisconsin. It seems strange that is the message they are hanging their hat on in trying to propel Baldwin to another  victory. They say he as a millionaire and a Californian, Hovde is out of touch with Wisconsin values. Now they are trying to further drive that point home with a new website called “EricHovdeDoesntLikeYou.com.” The website uses Hovde’s own words when he suggested those who struggle with their weight should pay more for their health care, or that people in nursing homes shouldn’t be allowed to vote because they have only months to live. Not very complimentary of Wisconsinites. But shouldn’t the focus be on Hovde’s stance on the issues, not his career, or wealth? What’s next? Are they going to go after Hovde because they don’t like his moustache? The way this campaign is going, it seems anything is fair game.

Here is a quicker/better link to Hovde’s speech. He speaks at the 3:58 mark.

“Dems quick to label senate race opponent” and then WIZM all too happy to unquestioningly repeat these months old lies verbatim. Mr. Shaw needs to retire.

Case in point, Hovde did not say people in nursing homes should not be allowed to vote…what he said was their vote should be monitored to make sure others weren’t voting for them without their knowledge (a form of elder abuse). Shaw is well aware of this distinction. Just more propaganda from WIZM.
