La Crosse man pleads not guilty of stabbing and killing victim 44 times

The suspect in a La Crosse stabbing death from December of 2023 is headed to trial, following a court hearing this week.

Bryant Q. Smith entered a not guilty plea on charges of stabbing Timothy Salis 44 times, after the two of them had been drinking.

The attack occurred at the Stokke Tower in downtown La Crosse.

Smith, 51, claims he stabbed Salis in self defense, because the victim was drunk and trying to choke him.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for September, but no trial date has been set.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.     Headline: “……stabbing and killing victim 44 times”. Guy’s name was Lazarus? To be killed 44 times is a new record.

    The victim is my good friends brother! BRYANT KILLED HIM INTENTIONALLY THIS WAS NO SELF-DEFENSE. HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING; HE HAD IT ALL PLANNED OUT. HE BEST GET SENT AWAY FOR LIFE.
