Former Olympian transferred from La Crosse to another jail, to face fraud charge

An Olympic athlete and former member of parliament from the country of Moldova, arrested in La Crosse County this month, has been transferred to the Janesville area to face charges there.

Vadim Vacarciuc appeared in Rock County court Friday, where he’s charged with improper use of a card scanning machine.

Vacarciuc and a second man, Ivan Bordian, were jailed in La Crosse two weeks ago in connection with the alleged fraud charges.

Friday, a Rock County judge set a cash bond of $5,000 for Vacarciuc and ordered him to return to court Wednesday.

Bordian has been released from the La Crosse jail but has another court hearing in La Crosse next week.

Vacarciuc was a weightlifter in the Olympics from 1996 to 2008, and is also a former member of the parliament in Moldova, but now lists his address as Illinois.

He and Bordian are suspected of using fake IDs at a Kwik Trip ATM in the Janesville area.

    The Winona cops signd 2 felony police contracts. No license and came to lacrosse and did illegal interstate transport of prisoners. No one cares. They cover it up.
