Surprise, Wisconsin still a dead heat

Tell us something we don’t know. The latest Marquette University Law School poll was released this week, and once again it shows the presidential race in Wisconsin to be a dead heat. The poll shows that among registered voters, President Biden and former President Trump each with support of 50% of respondents in a head-to-head matchup. Among likely voters, Biden has a slight lead, 51-49%.  That is largely unchanged since the last poll in April. That is interesting, because the latest poll has Trump’s numbers largely unchanged since his conviction on 34 felony charges. It’s like it didn’t happen, or more likely supporters think the judicial process, not Trump, is to blame. And I thought Reagan was the Teflon President. Not only did his felony convictions not hurt Trump’s poll numbers in Wisconsin, he benefited from the proceedings financially. Trump raised a lot of money after the conviction, enough to make a big dent in what had been a big lead in campaign coffers for Biden. Maybe he sold a lot of Bibles. The poll also finds most voters are not excited about their candidate. Less than half, 46%, say they are excited to vote for their candidate this fall. The rest of us just wish it was all over with.

Democrats engage in wishful thinking a lot, Scott. Just a week ago, your fellow liberals believed Trump was done following his court case. The Democrats bought millions of dollars in TV ads screaming “Trump is a convicted felon”. Your stated poll numbers show it didn’t do them any good. People generally believe the case was was all Democrat politics and Trump’s poll numbers are still strong.
Following last night’s TV media event between Trump and Biden and Biden’s shocking dementia display, the Democrats are now scrambling to find a replacement for their man, Joe. All the loyalty of a bar fly. It would have been fun watching the local Democrats gathered at the Rivoli squirming as they watched their guy sink into confusion

Apparently, the Dem talking points didn’t arrive in time for today’s column.

The margin of error on the Marquette poll was 4.6% which renders it basically meaningless.

Of course, these figures are all pre-debate debacle and pre-post-debate media back-spin and double speak influence campaign targeting the low information voter, i.e. “Trumps a liar and Biden is always correct” currently being deployed.

    Biden is totally incompetent.
His answers at times mirrored his policies – incoherent
He can lie just as good as Trump can.
His buddies at CNN could not even save him last night.

There was no cognitive activity from Biden. His comments were pure “muscle memory” from having repeated them so many times over 50 years. When time came to draw upon thoughts for his closing statement…well you say what happened.

Trump should have pounded the drug problem more. U.S. drug deaths during Biden’s term will soon approach dead from covid.
