Days after Biden-Trump debate, Bernie Sanders returns to UW-La Crosse
During a week when voters are asking whether Joe Biden is too old to be president, an even older U.S. Senator came to La Crosse to energize a campaign audience.
US Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) spoke at the UW-L student union Saturday, urging a crowd of about 200 people to support Biden and other Democrats in this year’s elections.
“The future is in your hands,” the 82-year-old Sanders, born more than a year before President Biden, said.
Sanders told the La Crosse audience that Biden “did not have a good night” on Thursday, when he appeared to struggle answering questions against former President Donald Trump.
Sanders, however, added that the debate was not meant as “entertainment,” and urges voters to consider important issues. He described Trump as a “pathological liar” who “does not believe in playing by the rules.”
During a nearly hour-long talk, Sanders said the government should find ways to help its people earn and keep more money, as well as reducing the cost of medical care.
The senator said rich Americans are typically living 10 to 15 years longer than the working class, partly because many poor people are dying because they can’t afford to go to doctors.
Sanders also urged the UW-L audience to re-elect US Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin), who’s seeking a third term this year. The two Senators have worked together on a health care committee, and Sanders argued that if Baldwin loses in November, “that’s a disaster.”
Baldwin is running against Trump-endorsed Republican Eric Hovde.
Sanders spoke in the same room at UW-L two years ago, in November of 2022, just before the mid-term election.

It is not about age Brad Williams. Liberal media continues to use the word age, and it has nothing to do with age. It has to do with clear cognitive decline associated with dementia. Dementia is characterized by periods of lucidness and other periods of forgetfulness, confusion, an odd gate, etc. In short, all the symptoms that Joe Biden presents add up to dementia. media in general, including yourself, like to use the word age simply because President Trump is also up there years. President Trump does not exhibit any of the symptoms of dementia like Joe Biden. Again, it’s not about age. It’s about cognitive decline. please stop incorrectly substituting the two words.

LG, you are spot on.
The term “old” is a chronologically based and relative term.
Demential is a medical term for loss of cognitive functions. There are relatively young people that suffer from demential (see early onset alzheimers).
Conflating the two concepts is today’s version of an old liberal media trick.
Trump shows no signs of dementia; Biden does. Sorry, facts matter, Williams pass it on to your fellow propaganda pushers at WIZM.

Commie Bernie comes to to town and spews his usual stuff.
Biden has been an absolute disaster.
Afghanistan withdrawal reminded me of Vietnam.
Turns out he ignored the military and had no plan.
He was warned his giveaway would cause inflation and it did.
The student loan give away is debt cancelled for students and put on the back of taxpayers; fact the corrupt media never mentions.
His energy plan is incoherent.
I could go and on .
Trump is a liar who should never be reelected ; a repeat of his first term : chaos and now the added revenge

Bernies narrative of hate, division, lies, misinformation, intolerance, racism and hypocrisy has no place in our universies.
