It looks like the Mississippi River won’t be getting to 15 feet at La Crosse during this current round of flooding.

Weather watchers say the river appears to have crested at 14.94 feet Tuesday and has dropped an inch or two since then.

The latest predictions call for the water to go down to 14.5 by noon Sunday, and then to 14 feet late Monday night. It will, however, remain above 13 feet for most of next week.

On Thursday night, the river stage at La Crosse was 14.8 feet, slightly below the crest of 14.9 reported Wednesday.

The river could fall about 3 feet at Winona, Minn., over the next week, and fall close to 4 feet at Red Wing, Minn.
