Investigation calls for former UWL Chancellor Gow to be fired from faculty for misuse of computers related to producing porn videos
A university committee is recommending that former UWL chancellor Joe Gow be dismissed from the school’s faculty, following his firing as chancellor last year for producing homemade pornographic videos with his wife.
A nine-page report resulting from a hearing last month in Onalaska recommends that Gow be dismissed for violating policies regarding the use of information technologies, specifically university computers. Much of the two-day hearing dealt with Gow’s use of IT, allegedly to produce those videos. The report finds that Gow did not have a university-related purpose for using the computers.
Gow is also found guilty of violating university policy regarding the use of the technology for commercial activities or personal gain. The report says the investigating committee recommends firing Gow for what the document classifies as “unethical and potentially illegal conduct.” It also says his behavior demonstrates “poor judgment” on the part of a UW faculty member.
Gow was fired as chancellor last December, but has been allowed to remain on the UWL faculty pending this investigation. The report has been submitted to the UWL Faculty Senate and newly-hired chancellor James Beeby for further action.
