La Crosse County could soon get close to $200,000 in a class-action settlement against the Kroger supermarket chain.

The county board Thursday voted to enter into a settlement agreement, along with most other Wisconsin counties.

Kroger has been sued for allegedly distributing drugs containing opioids, such as fentanyl.

Kroger has agreed to pay up to $1.4 billion over 11 years, including up to $1.2 billion for state and local governments and nearly $173 million to cover lawyers’ fees and costs.
