As I See It
DVO does it again
Derrick Van Orden has made quite a name for himself in his first term representing western Wisconsin in Congress, but for all the wrong reasons. Van Orden made the news this week when he claimed that he was assaulted while attending an event at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. He claims a woman with a pro-Palestinian protest group assaulted him and reported it to police. But police declined to file charges, and the woman with the group CodePink claims it was Van Orden who shoved her when he pushed past her group. Given his past behavior, it would not be out of character for Van Orden to get into a scrap with those with whom he disagrees. Van Orden is pro-Israeli, and referred to the woman he claims assaulted him as a “Hamas-loving slipknot.” So far in his political career, Van Orden got in trouble for profanely yelling at teenage pages on their final day of work in the Capitol. He shouted “lies” during President Biden’s State of the Union address and cursed at White House officials during a briefing on the Hamas attack on Israel. Even before he took office, Van Orden harassed library volunteers in Prairie du Chien over an LGBTQ book display. We had hoped that Van Orden would have helped Wisconsin by passing a new farm bill, which hasn’t happened. Instead, he has put Wisconsin in the spotlight for his unsavory behavior toward those who don’t share his political views.

The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. his past behavior and the current facts suggest you are correct. Derek Van Orden could use some anger management skills. I think you got it right this time SRS.

Based on past performance, because as you say, it’s the best predictor of future behavior, this is yet another partisan shill article by WIZM, replete with missing pertinent facts.
By the way, in case you want to open your other eye, the past performance of Code Pink is very very nasty. They have also promised to be in Chicago next month to raise havoc with the Dems, so be careful in awarding them your credibility.

A mature, thinking adult might question ‘why is an actual Palestinian with a radical anti-Israeli and anti-American agenda and associated with Code Pink allowed anywhere near a US Congressman.’ This is a security breach in itself. Of course, in a Dem run city she was released without charges like all her BLM cousins.
More partisan odor from WIZM.

I’m not sure what to think of Van Orden’s performance so far. He’s been voting the right way and Laura Ingram had him as a guest on her Fox show the other night at the Republican convention. He seemed knowledgeable, congenial and resolute. Laura complimented him. Media dislikes him because he doesn’t play their game and yield to their loaded questions. He’s not as vulnerable as Democrats think he is.

Roy, Local Dems, including the tools at WIZM, are pissed they lost Ron Kind’s long-time Dem seat in the last election; losing the seat, even to a solid candidate, was seen as an embarrassment. Accordingly they have attacked Van Orden over any pissant issue they can conjure up since the day after he was elected and before he had even been sworn in.
