La Crosse, Wis. — UW-La Crosse students will present their research at the Summer Research Symposium from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, in The Bluffs ballroom in the UWL Student Union.

The students will present on an array of topics — from the effects of light pollution on monarch butterflies, to the implementation of adventure-based learning in K-12 schools — through oral presentations, poster displays, exhibits and artistic works.

The symposium highlights research and creative accomplishments of the campus community and the important mentorship roles faculty and staff play in the scholarly activity process.

Members of the media are invited to attend and interview students about their research.

The Summer Research Symposium provides valuable presentation experience to students from a variety of programs sponsored or hosted by UWL’s College of Science & Health, including the Dean’s Distinguished Fellowship Program, the Summer Graduate Research Fellows and the McNair Scholars.

This event is the culmination of many weeks of intensive research by students and supported by faculty and staff.
