La Crosse YMCA president Bill Soper on USDA upcoming visit, feeding the kids

Bill Soper, president and CEO of the La Crosse Area YMCAs, joins La Crosse Talk on Tuesday to discuss a huge event Thursday, highlighted by a visit from the USDA. We also highlight the evolution of how the YMCA is getting meals to kids across the region.

Thursday’s event begins at 11 a.m. at the La Crosse Y, that includes Cindy Long, USDA Deputy Under Secretary of the Food and Nutrition Consumer Services. At 1 p.m. there will be a celebration at the La Crosse Y with booths highlighting food access programs, Y on the Fly activities and a short program.

    I am curious with the amount of free and reduced meals that are available in the community. Would make you think that everyone is starving, yet we have an obesity epidemic.
