Not a big surprise Amy Klobuchar won her Democratic primary for US Senate in Minnesota, but on the other side of the aisle, that could be a different story.

Klobuchar won, getting nearly 94% of the vote against Steve Carlson.

Meanwhile Royce White came out on top for Republicans over Navy veteran Joe Fraser with nearly 39% of the vote.

White, who is endorsed by Steve Bannon and other extreme right-wing advocates, brings some controversy to the ticket, promoting conspiracy theories, spending $1,200 in campaign money at a strip club, because he liked the food there, and he owes child support payments, among other outlying stories.

In some places, White might be a strong fit for Republicans, but the GOP hasn’t won a statewide race in Minnesota in 17 years. Democrats have won 26 consecutive statewide races.

The last Republican to win a statewide race in Minnesota was Gov. Tim Pawlenty in 2006 – winning by 1 point over Attorney General Mike Hatch.
