No one injured, while one cat rescued, another missing, during basement fire to south La Crosse house

A basement fire Wednesday caused damage to a house on the far south side of La Crosse.

Firefighters were sent to a house in the 3500 block of Meadow Lane Place, around 1:30 p.m., when black smoke was reported to be coming from the basement.

The fire was contained to the lower level of the home.

No one at the house was injured. Firefighters rescued one cat, while a second cat is missing.

The cause of the fire is not known yet.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
