Donald Trump hosting La Crosse town hall Thursday

Donald Trump plans to hold a town hall event Thursday at the La Crosse Center, according to his campaign.

“Trump will meet with Wisconsinites to listen to their concerns and share his promising agenda: to make America affordable again,” a campaign release stated.

Doors open at 3 p.m. Remarks are set for 6 p.m. General admission tickets are available in advance.

The campaign asserted that “notorious swing state voters are eager to discuss kitchen table issues with President Trump.”

The last time Trump was in La Crosse, it was a private fundraiser at the Charmant in August of 2016, for those who donated $2,700 to get in and $15,000 for a photo with the candidate.

Trump was supposed to be in La Crosse one other time — an airport campaign rally in September of 2020, right as COVID cases set a new daily record in the state. First, there was a dilemma with having the event at the hangar. So the campaign rescheduled for Janesville before cancelling altogether because Trump contracted the virus.

The first time Trump came to La Crosse was during his initial presidential run. He spoke for about an hour April 4, 2016, at a La Crosse Center rally in front of about 1,700, the day before the primary.

Trump also held a rally in West Salem at the Speedway in October of 2020 with about 5,000 in attendance.

No, if you do some research, you’ll learn he still landed, and side tracked to Republican West Salem. I had tickets for the LaCrosse event and he cancelled last minute. I’ll still vote for him to save America, but I did not appreciate the snub as a Republican in a blue city.

Trump cancelled his Wisconsin trips Oct. 1, because he got COVID. He campaigned in West Salem Oct. 27.
