La Crosse city council member Barb Janssen joins to discuss committee legislation Thursday to use $270,000 for cleanup and security on city property, plus why the council didn’t appoint a District 5 replacement.

Janssen, who has been on the council seven years, including serving as president, also serves on the Finance and Personnel Committee, which meets at 6 p.m. Thursday (agenda here).

One of the items the F&P committee will debate is spending $270,000 for cleanup of the La Crosse River marsh, Cameron and Burns parks, plus two parking ramps. That money would also be used for added security at Burns and Cameron parks. This comes a week after La Crosse began enforcing a no camping ban on city property and performed extensive cleanup around the marsh trail area.

We also discussed the Pump House Regional Arts Center asking for additional funds of around $13,000 for renovations of the building, which is owned by the city.

Lastly, we discussed the council not voting to appoint a District 5 replacement on the council after a resignation. A replacement now won’t be voted for until the April 2025 election.

Just add the $270,000 to the $20 million already spent by the La Crosse Homeless Industrial Complex.

$270,000 is just a rounding error for Mayor Mitch and the Council (otherwise known as the City property taxes on approximately 250 actual La Crosse homes paid for by actual La Crosse taxpayers).

No problem. Take the rest of the day off.

Local TV interview with Parks Director Jay Odegaard said it all. Odegaard was down on the marsh trail, rolling up his sleeves cleaning with a disgusted look on his face. “The worst of it is the feces. It’s all over”

Your dog would get a rolled up newspaper across the butt for acting like these squatters have. The liberals’ enabling has lead to this disgusting episode in our city

Take that $270,000 plus out of the mayor’s salary and the city councils’ stipends, garnish their wages, force accountability for the stupidity of their decisions. That money won’t come close to cleaning up after the crap that is down over the banks, out in the marsh, finding ‘all’ the needles (no doubt from the harm reduction act) from the free needle give away LaCrosse has voted for….. This generation is the enabling generation, if we can find away for you to walk away from your responsibilities and commitments we will, then we will give you an award for walking away from them….

Garnish Solem’s wage as well, and possibly include WIZM’s income in the request for clean-up monies, WIZM and he promote that enabling idealogy with every broadcast and opinion piece.

I never thought I would be the crotchety old guy, but watching the directions our culture is going in, and the crap we are tolerating as a society, and then saying ‘thank you ma’am, thank you sir, may i have another’, gets a bit tiring.
