Gow’s tenure at UW-La Crosse could be determined Friday

Former UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow is getting another chance to fight for his faculty position on campus.

Gow has a hearing Friday before a committee of the university Board of Regents.

He was fired as chancellor last December for producing pornographic videos with his wife and affiliating with adult film stars, which was considered an embarrassment to the university.

Gow has tenure is still on the UW-L faculty, where he can teach communications courses.

A two-day hearing was held in June in Onalaska, on whether Gow should be allowed to continue as a faculty member.

University officials claim Gow has not cooperated with the investigation. Those officials charge that he improperly used university equipment to make those videos as reason for his firing.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
