Trump plans weekend speech in Prairie du Chien on immigration, public safety
Border security and immigration are expected to be the leading topics when former president Donald Trump travels to Prairie du Chien on Saturday.
Other recent presidents have visited Prairie du Chien before or after being elected, including Jimmy Carter in 1979, Bill Clinton in 1992, and George W. Bush in 2004.
Trump’s campaign said the Republican candidate will speak at Prairie du Chien High School, and will meet with residents and community leaders there about immigration concerns.
A Venezuelan man, Alejandro Coronel Zarate, is charged in Crawford County court with an alleged sexual assault and domestic battery, following an arrest this month. Coronel Zarate has been accused of belonging to a gang in Venezuela.
Trump is returning to western Wisconsin for the second time in about a month. He spoke at a La Crosse Center town hall Aug. 29.
Saturday’s Trump event is scheduled for late morning at the arts center.
