La Crosse County employees could receive a 3 percent raise next year.

That plan is included in the 2025 budget proposal, presented to the County board on Monday night. A raise of that amount would cost about $2 million.

The overall county budget could rise to $205.9 million, an increase of less than 1 percent from this year, but representing over $1 million in additional spending.

Board members will vote on next year’s budget during a November meeting.

In other board business Monday, plans for unneeded trailers were announced by county administrator Jane Klekamp.

Six mass casualty trailers were purchased by the county about 20 years ago.

Without a need to keep those items though, county officials will donate four trailers to local governments. One trailer will be kept in West Salem.

Klekamp also was asked whether a fire last week at a wood lot on French Island caused any problems for the Xcel Energy incinerator, located near the fire scene.

Klekamp told the board she was not aware of any effect on the incinerator.
