La Crosse teachers’ union co-president Martinez on upcoming elections, $53 million referendum

La Crosse Education Association co-president, Jesse Martinez, joins WIZM’s La Crosse Talk on Monday to discuss the upcoming elections, as well as the district’s $53.5 million referendum for upgrades to the elementary schools.

We began with Martinez, who is a seventh-grade math and social studies teacher at Logan Middle School, on the upcoming election and how he urges voters to look at candidates who are supporting public education both in the Wisconsin state Legislature and in Congress.

We also discussed if the referendum is common knowledge at this time, mentioning that the League of Women Voters hosting a forum Thursday on the matter.

Lastly, we hit on some of the repercussions if the referendum does not pass in November.
