Arkansas man reaches plea agreement in West Salem fentanyl death

A 25-year-old Arkansas native pleaded no contest Tuesday to a La Crosse County charge of delivering fentanyl to a friend, who died of a drug overdose.

Lathan Foster was facing a charge of reckless homicide in the death three years ago of Jeremy Pittman in West Salem.

The plea agreement was brought before La Crosse Judge Elliott Levine on Tuesday.

Foster will be sentenced in December for delivery of narcotics.

Earlier this year, the Foster had been jailed in his home state, before being brought back to western Wisconsin.

Foster had been awaiting trial for providing the drug to Pittman, who overdosed on New Year’s Eve of 2021. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 3.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
