Old north-side fire station in La Crosse could have future as office building or business center; City Hall is studying offers
When the La Crosse fire department opened a new station along La Crosse Street this year, it left behind a former station on Monitor Street. This week, the city board of public works is looking at two offers for the old Station 2.
The board may go into closed session on Monday to review plans to either remodel the old building to house small businesses, or to convert it into offices.
In the last two years, the fire department has moved into new buildings on the UW-La Crosse campus, and on Gillette Street.
According to documents filed with the city, proposed uses for the building include offices, and space for small businesses.
