As I See It

Thank you, and goodbye

This was a difficult editorial to write. I prefer to write about important issues and offer my opinion about them. But today, it is about me, as this is my final editorial on WIZM. After 35 years with Mid-West Family, today is my final day on the job as I am about to begin retirement. I wanted to use this opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for listening to my daily editorials, and for taking time to call or text with your opinions, or to share your comments on our website or social media pages. Thank you for taking the time to consider these issues I have written about for nearly 20 years, whether you have agreed or disagreed. Hopefully a little bit of both. I need to say thank you as well to Dick Record, who hired me at this radio station in 1989, and who, upon his retirement, allowed me to take over the production of a daily editorial. This has been a tradition at WIZM for decades, and we are and have long been the only radio station in the state to produce a daily editorial, much less to do it since the 1970s. I am proud too of the numerous awards we have received over the years for this commentary. So today is bittersweet. But now it is time for me to put the pen down. It has been an honor to have the opportunity to speak to you each day about issues I consider important. Thank you for your consideration and thank you for listening.

Scott, I have agreed with most of your commentary, but have been grateful for your thoughts over the years. They have given me something to think about and in many ways have strengthened my own beliefs. Enjoy your retirement1
