Democrats from around the country are flocking to Wisconsin just before the election to help bring out their party’s voters.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has made a few trips to the Badger State this year, to help fellow Democrats including Tammy Baldwin, and the two Senators appeared at a UW-La Crosse rally on Monday.

Warren said Wisconsin’s history shows that voters turn out in big numbers to support democracy.

“If that happens in this election, and that means you vote, and you go get someone else to vote, and you make sure your cousins and your friends and even that cranky uncle gets out there and votes, then we know that our democracy will survive, and we’ll have Wisconsin to thank for that,” Warren told La Crosse reporters. Baldwin says the outcome of important elections in November could depend on turnout in the Badger State.

At the campus rally, Warren called Democratic voters as a “secret weapon” in the election. “It’s people who say, I care about my democracy. I care that my voice is as loud as the voice of some multi-millionaire who thinks he’s gonna come in here, from California or somewhere else, and try to buy this state,” referring to Baldwin’s Republican challenger, businessman Eric Hovde.

The visit by Warren and Baldwin to the student union at UWL follows last week’s large rally on campus by Vice President Kamala Harris.
