Suspect in throat-cutting attack being sought in West Salem

Police in West Salem are looking for a man accused of cutting another person’s throat Monday night near a Kwik Trip store.

The police department has issued this release:

On October 21st 2024 at approximately 7:04pm the West Salem Police Department was dispatched to 341 Jefferson St. E. to assist a male whose throat had been cut by another male who then fled the scene in a red Semi-Truck with Trailer. Officers arrived on scene and found the victim had suffered a substantial yet non-life-threatening laceration to his neck and chest. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later released from their care.

This incident is believed to be isolated. Though our investigation continues; preliminary information suggests the incident occurred within the parking lot of 341 Jefferson St. E, between two truck drivers who had no prior knowledge of each other, nor had they any known connection to Village of West Salem or its surrounding area.
