Fact Checking Representative Steve Doyle’s Voting Records

In a recent episode of Fact Check, local conservative commentator Bill Feehan raised concerns about the voting record of Wisconsin state Rep. Steve Doyle (D-Onalaska).

Feehan addresses what he calls misleading claims in a current campaign ad that portrays Doyle as a proponent of lower taxes.

Feehan points out that Doyle voted against three significant tax-cutting bills during this year’s legislative session: Assembly bills 1020, 1021, and 1022.

These bills include broad-based tax cuts, reductions for retirees and disabled persons, and tax cuts for married couples.

“Despite Doyle’s campaign literature touting lower taxes, his voting history tells a different story,” Feehan said.

Doyle also voted against the Republican state budget, which included additional tax cuts.

The episode features a quiz titled How Well Do You Know Your Legislator? in which Feehan highlights several controversial votes.

These include Doyle’s opposition to banning sanctuary cities (AB450), prohibiting biological males from competing in high school sports (AB377), banning gender transitioning for minors (AB465), and a bill that would allow only U.S. citizens to vote in Wisconsin (SJR71).

While Doyle has positioned himself as a bipartisan moderate, Feehan argued that his voting record reflects a more liberal stance. He urges voters in the 94th Assembly District to reconsider their support for Doyle, endorsing Republican challenger Ryan Huebsch.
