Battleground Wisconsin, is this a good thing?

A question for Wisconsin voters: Do you like living in a battleground state?

For years now, political experts have talked a lot about a handful of states that can swing a presidential race. So much, that it seems we’ve been lumped together into a superstate: MichiganPennsylvaniaWisconsin. I think it’s pretty cool that people around the country pay attention to Wisconsin for reasons other than, ‘How are the Packers doing?’

As a result of the attention, the La Crosse area once again is a magnet for big-name politicians. So far this year, Kamala Harris has been in La Crosse twice. Donald Trump got to the city in August, then came to Prairie du Chien weeks later. And the outgoing First Lady, Jill Biden, just paid us a visit.

Not quite the same as Iowa and New Hampshire insisting on going first during caucuses and primaries, but maybe that’s OK with most folks around here. I guess it means more for bragging rights than adding to our tourism trade, but I hope the bigwigs keep coming in the future. Now, if we can just get more of them to visit during Oktoberfest.
