One-car crash on French Island kills male driver

A 79-year-old driver from Onalaska has died in a one-vehicle crash in the town of Campbell.

The accident happened early Thursday on Hinckley Road, at Lakeshore Drive on French Island, with responders finding the vehicle in the marsh area off the road. The man in the Chevrolet Captiva was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash. The victim’s name has not been released yet. The state patrol, and police from Onalaska and the town of Campbell responded.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
