Putz wins 3rd-consecutive D1 state meet for Onalaska, while Aquinas’ Gregg takes D3 title

For the third consecutive yet final time of his high school career, Onalaska’s Manny Putz is the state champion in cross country.

The senior won the Division 1 race Saturday in 15 minutes, 7.5 seconds, just beating De Pere’s Grady Lenn (15:09.2), who he had been battling with all race.

In Division 3, senior Declan Gregg was the state champion (15:52.7) in helping lead Aquinas to a fifth-place team finish. Teammate Thomas Gorman III finished 13th (17:04.7).

In Division 2, senior Carter Quackenbush’s fourth-place finish (16:04.1) helped lead West Salem to second overall. Teammates Carson Gronemus finished 14th and Tom Stenberg was 17th.
