Democrat Steve Doyle narrowly defends Assembly seat over Republican Ryan Huebsch, who can request recount
Democrat Steve Doyle has defended his District 94 Assembly seat.
Doyle narrowly beat Republican Ryan Huebsch by about 200 votes — 18,435 to 18,218.
Doyle won La Crosse County with 51.5% of the vote — 16,963 to 15,958. In Trempealeau County, Huebsch had 788 more votes — Doyle 1,472 to Huebsch 2,260.
Because the margin is less than 1% and the vote total is over 4,000, Huebsch can request a recount.
In 2022, Doyle defeated Huebsch by 756 votes.
Doyle has been in office since 2011.
His district was one of only about five competitive races two years ago. After new voting lines changed for this election, Doyle inherited some of the north side of the city of La Crosse — a place where he grew up — as well as parts of Trempealeau County, which then made the 94th even more competitive.
Doyle will be in studio at 5 p.m. La Crosse Talk PM on Wednesday.
