La Crosse Assembly Rep. Jill Billings has won reelection.

The Democrat from La Crosse defeated Cedric Schnitzler with 52.1% of the vote, winning 16,420 to 15,068.

In La Crosse County, Billings had 59.1% of the 21,405 votes cast, winning there 12,659 to 8,704.

In Monroe County, Schnitzler had 6,364 votes to Billings 3,761.

Billings, who will be on WIZM’s La Crosse Talk PM from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, has been in the state Assembly since a 2011 special election.

In each of the past two elections, she’s won with 66.8% (2022) and 65.6% (2020) of the vote. The previous two elections, she ran unopposed.

The Assembly maps were changed this year to be more fair across the board, which meant Billings previously Democratic-heavy district was more competitive, losing some of the city of La Crosse and inheriting part of Monroe County.
