The trial, moved to Mankato because of extensive publicity around Winona, has lasted about three weeks.

Kingsbury was reported missing in April of last year. Her family and community members in Winona conducted searches and vigils before her body was found in June of 2023. The defense in the trial suggests that prosecutors have focused too much on Fravel as a potential suspect.
