Elections
Republican candidates Huebsch, Klein continue to advocate for issues, even if they didn’t win Tuesday’s elections
The campaigns may be over for this season, but the election issues in Wisconsin keep going.
Area Assembly candidate Ryan Huebsch wants to see state lawmakers take action on certain priorities in the new session, including completion of a science center at UW-La Crosse.
“One of the biggest issues that we’ve seen is that we haven’t had that loud voice in Madison, where that has been sitting, just sitting there, for I think almost 12 years now,” Huebsch said at an election night event in Onalaska, adding that the cost of the project is going to rise because of inactivity.
Republican Huebsch finished 217 votes behind incumbent Democrat Steve Doyle in the 94th District race, a margin close enough to possibly lead to a recount.
Fellow Republican Stacey Klein received 47 percent of the vote in her loss for state Senate against Brad Pfaff in District 32.
Speaking along with Huebsch on Tuesday, Klein talked about what she’d like lawmakers to work on in the coming months.
“Get back to the efficiency, effectiveness of local government, bring that to a state level,” Klein said, “and then make sure that our communities are getting what they need, and not let our legislature get distracted by all these other frivolous things.”
Klein and Huebsch both want the Legislature to pay more attention to the western part of the state.
