As I See It (large)

After I told my co-workers in Texas that I had accepted my current job here in La Crosse, the first response was “you know it snows a lot there”…and I replied, yes, I am aware of that.  Which was followed by…”do you have enough winter clothes”?

I grew up in Ohio so I know how to deal with snow and ice and bumpy roads.  The first weekend I moved to the Cleveland area, the Lake Erie winds and ice that later turned to snow dropped the temperature down to 67 below zero.

Then I was told that I might not see the ground from November to March or April.  Well, after being in Texas for two and a half years, I am looking forward to seeing four seasons once again and not just brown dirt and a lot of dust.

It’s a small adjustment to make and the chance to buy real winter coats and boots.  And maybe somewhere along the bumpy road, you can give me a few more tips on how to cope with the Wisconsin winter weather.  I just hope that I won’t have to memorize the streets with giant potholes that could potentially swallow a wheel or half a car.  By the way, do you know where to get a good deal on snowshoes?

I've worked in radio all over the south, and so far am loving the Midwest! Such a beautiful part of the country, but we'll see how I feel after my first Minnesota winter. My first paying job was a trading post manager at a Boy Scout summer camp. And yes, I am an Eagle Scout. I can juggle, say the alphabet backwards faster than forwards and can ride a unicycle, but my latest hobby is mountain biking. Looking forward to meeting my new extended Mid-West Family.
