Aquinas (29-4) plays for the title at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against second seeded Barron (36-2).

Barron, which hadn’t been to state since 1999, needed five sets to beat Lake County Lutheran 3-2 (25-27, 25-22, 19-25, 25-20, 15-10).

This is the third time Aquinas has ever been to the state tournament. It also went in 2019 and 2016.

The Blugolds lost to Howards Grove 3-0 in the 2019 state championship. Coincidentally, they also lost to Howards Grove 3-0 in the 2016 state semifinals.
