Tomah man facing possible homicide charge for fatal crash in Monroe County

A Monroe County man is expected in court on Monday, to face charges resulting from a deadly highway crash last week.

Kristoffer Cattle of Tomah may be charged with reckless homicide, and operating after suspension.

Investigators say Cattle was driving on Monroe County Highway A last Thursday and crossed the center line, hitting an oncoming vehicle. The other driver, 63-year-old David Wilcox of Tomah, was killed in the collision, and a passenger in his vehicle was hurt.

Cattle was believed to be under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

He is expected to appear before a judge for a bond hearing in Sparta on Monday afternoon.

According to state records, Monroe County has had an unofficial total of seven traffic deaths in 2024, compared to five highway deaths last year.
