Law enforcement in Vernon County and OSHA are investigating the work related death of a 39-year-old Viola, Wis., man in a construction accident.

The sheriff’s department said David Puig, a construction contractor, was seriously injured on Tuesday, while using machinery — an all-terrain telescopic handler — to install siding on a new home in the town of Harmony.

Puig reportedly became caught between the machine and a wall of the home.

First responders from the Genoa-Harmony Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, but Puig was already being transported by private vehicle to the Stoddard-Bergen fire station, where EMS workers used life-saving efforts on him.

Puig, however, was pronounced dead by the county coroner.
