La Crosse’s city council Thursday passed new rules about what activities will be allowed in city parking ramps.

By a10-2 vote, the council approved an ordinance banning a broad range of trespassing in the ramps.

That would essentially prohibit anything that isn’t parking-related from happing in the ramps.

Activities like drinking, drug use, skateboarding, and other things would be prohibited.

The ordinance says people using the ramps should only be there long enough to park their cars or to drive away, if they’re finished parking.

In other action, some unused federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding could be used to pay for bridge housing.

The city council voted to use up to $75,000 in funds to help with the project.

Couleecap and Karuna, Inc., have been designated as organizations which could use the funding.
