Car crash takes out some power lines in La Crosse during weekend

A weekend accident in La Crosse reportedly knocked out some power lines for a time, at a busy intersection along Mormon Coulee Road.

The La Crosse fire department says a car went into the air and struck electric lines at the corner of Mormon Coulee and Birch Street, during the noon hour on Saturday.

The car landed sideways, and one person had to be freed from the vehicle by a team of 10 firefighters who responded to the scene.

The patient was taken to Gundersen by ambulance, with paramedics assisting in care during the transport to the hospital. Officials have not released new information about the patient’s condition.
