Longtime Viterbo volleyball coach Ryan DeLong joined WIZM’s La Crosse Talk, as his team continues in the NAIA tournament. We discuss volleyball in the area, the expectations — perhaps unfairly — put on the 15th-ranked V-Hawks to seemingly always qualify for the postseason and how they got here this time around.

La Crosse Talk airs weekdays at 6-8 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.

This is DeLong’s 20th year at Viterbo, which moved to a new conference this season and proceeded to win it and take multiple awards. The V-Hawks (26-9) have won conference titles in 11 of their past 15 seasons and have gotten to the NAIA Final Four five times over that span.

Viterbo begins pool play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with 20th-ranked Nelson (Texas / 30-5). At 7:30 p.m. Friday, the V-Hawks face No. 7 Southern Oregon (29-3)
