The Wisconsin and Marquette volleyball teams are headed to the Sweet 16.

The seventh-ranked and second-seeded Badgers are looking to get back to the Final Four for the second consecutive season. They beat No. 18 Georgia Tech 3-1 on Friday night at the UW Field House.

At 6 p.m. this Friday, the Badgers (25-6) play No. 6 seed Texas A&M (21-7) — a team they swept 3-0 back on Sept. 21 in Madison.

A win for Wisconsin likely means a rematch with third-ranked and No. 1-seeded Nebraska (31-2), which has swept the Badgers 3-0 twice this season.

Meanwhile, Marquette upset No. 17 Utah 3-2 last Friday.

The Golden Eagles (25-8) will play this Friday at No. 2-ranked Penn State (31-2).

Penn State’s two losses came to No. 1-ranked Pitt 3-0 and to Wisconsin 3-0.

One of Nebraska’s only two losses this season came 3-1 to Penn State back on Nov. 29. The other Cornhuskers’ loss came, oddly enough, 3-0 to Saint Mary’s back on Sept. 3.

Lastly, over the Mississippi River, 15th-ranked Minnesota was eliminated at No. 11 Kentucky 3-1. The Gophers finish the season 21-11.
