La Crosse Schools superintendent, Dr. Aaron Engel, joined to discuss the good and bad after Act 10, new school start times, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers’ budget listening session and some of the more interesting field trip proposals he’s experienced.
Also, proposed an idea to Engel that San Diego State’s women’s basketball is doing — having local elementary students designing the team’s warmup t-shirts.

In regards to Act 10, which was recently overturned to some degree, Engel talked about what the initial 2010 law meant from both a school district’s perspective and a teacher’s view.
We also discussed how the district is starting the school day earlier for elementary school students and later for middle and high schoolers.
Last week, Evers visited La Crosse and nearly 100 people spoke about budget priorities, including Engel and other school officials and teachers. Engel talked about what the La Crosse School District’s priorities would be for the upcoming budget.
