Two people killed riding SUV involved in collision with trucks near Tomah

A crash involving an SUV and two semi-trucks has led to two traffic deaths on I-94.

The collision happened north of Tomah on Monday night. The state patrol says an SUV went across the median, hitting two trucks in the opposite lane. The semis both reportedly crossed the median as well. Two people riding in the SUV, a woman and a man, were both killed. The patrol did not immediately release their names.

The woman was from Minnesota, and the man was from Wisconsin. The two semi-drivers were transported to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The accident unofficially raises the number of highway deaths in Monroe County to 9 for this year, compared with 5 in 2023.
